Travel and Accommodation
The
Tampere-Pirkkala airport is about 17 km south-west of the
Tampere city centre. The airlines operating in Tampere are Finnair,
Ryanair
and Blue1.
Bus from the airport to city centre takes about 40 minutes and
costs about 4 € /person. Airport Taxis are on stand-by for plane
arrivals and carry passengers to and from Tampere city. Fare
for Airport Taxis is 12 €/person. Normal taxi to Tampere city
costs about 35 €. The railway station in Tampere is located
in the city centre. For train connections to Tampere check VR
Railways website.
Accommodation to all the Globelics
Academy participants will be provided at the
Hotel Victoria (Itsenäisyydenkatu 1, 33100 Tampere) and
at
Sokos Hotel Villa (Sumeliuksenkatu 14, 33100 Tampere),
from 2 June to 14 June, 2008. Single rooms with Internet connection
are provided. Both hotels are at walking distance from University
of Tampere (Pinni B Building), approximately 400 meters from
hotel Victoria (students) and 150 meters from hotel Villa
(lecturers).
