Limited support to students' travel:
Some funds for support to students' travel - 10 grants of maximum 1000 euro - are made available by the Danish Bestseller Foundation and by Merit, Maastricht. Students who cannot find travel funds through other channels should send a specific application for support. The application may besides the argument for why support cannot be raised from other sources include a short CV with photo.
The Globelics Academy aims at improving the students ability to undertake theoretically informed and policy-relevant empirical work on issues related to Systems of Innovation. The duration of the Academy is about 10 days.
To qualify the PhD student should fulfil the following requirements:
A quota selection will be practised making sure the representation of students from Africa, Asia and Latin America. Within each category the candidates with the most promising theses will be selected.
- be at least in the beginning of his/her second year;
- work explicitly on issues related to systems of innovation;
- be able to present an original paper related to the dissertation work in the field of innovation systems and economic development
Participants will be selected on the basis of a general call for Abstracts. The PhD training will be based on scholarly lectures as well as presentations from the PhD students. Student presentations are expected to focus explicitly on methodological challenges and their contributions to the furthering of the research on innovation systems.
Students need to raise funds for travel expenses, but accommodation and other expenses with meals are covered by the Local organization for a predefined number of students, to be identified based on individual applications.
2005 Call for Abstracts and student applications (before March 15, 2005)
Student selection will be based upon evaluation of an extended abstract of two-to-five pages, which should be typed double-spaced in English, together with the studentīs CV and a recommendation letter from the supervisor or from another senior scholar. The abstract should state the objectives, results and conclusions of the work with supporting figures and main references. The abstracts should be sent, before March 15, 2004, to the Local Secretariat Office, with an accompanying letter including e-mail and/or FAX addresses.
